The New Twitter Nest

June 21, 2012 by Pamela Parker Caird Leave a Comment

I’ve long been a huge fan of botanically-themed design, perhaps because it celebrates and elevates the beauty of the natural world around us. Perhaps you’ve noticed that here and there on this site. In our own home, we’ve incorporated an oak leaf motif on our fireplace screen, Japanese-style wave paintings in the master bath, and, in our sons’ room, I aspire to create a Japanese/Swedish-style woodland.

This week, visiting Twitter’s new offices in San Francisco, I discovered some stunning examples of this style — clever, beautiful riffs off the company’s bird logo. So I thought I’d share my (admittedly somewhat poor) cameraphone photos here. Hope some of the calm of the originals shine through.

On the ceiling outside the elevators leading to the lobby.

The front desk -- the branches that are incorporated into the desk and walls are collected, not manufactured. Love the uneven ends of the wood on the right side.

The new logo on a warm wooden background.

A tabletop in the waiting area, complete with bird-themed coffee table books.

Logoed coffee cups, along with something flying and a wooden birdhouse. (This is part of a coffee/drink dispensing area in the lobby.)

A conference room sign. Walls feature the same found branches.

Roofdeck sitting area on a strikingly sunny day. The cafeteria's seating area also extends out to the roofdeck.

Plantings reminded me of the High Line in NYC. Look forward to seeing them when they've grown out a bit, too.
