Our Deer (In Velvet)

August 9, 2011 by Pamela Parker Caird 1 Comment

You may have noticed in my last post that I cheated — I used stock photographs to portray the wildlife that strays across our back yard on a regular basis. You see, we don’t yet have a real telephoto lens and, without one, you’ve got to get pretty darned close to get a decent photograph. And getting close requires walking out the back door, which risks scaring away the skittish creatures.

Tonight, though, things were fairly quiet on the homefront (as Callum was at football practice), and I decided to take the chance. I had to do some cropping as, otherwise, the shots were all over the place. Please excuse the graininess and appreciate the authenticity. (Also note that many of them were staring right at me.)
