On the way back to the house, after meeting Callum at the bus stop at the end of our driveway, something brightly-colored caught my eye. It’s apparently some kind of Stenocactus — my usually-quite-sufficient Google plant identification skills failed me here. No matter. It was a lovely surprise for me, and apparently for all the pollinators in the vicinity, too. A bee was in there when I first started taking pictures, and, before I got off three shots, it flew away and another bug took its place.
